Walker has had a pretty good couple of days. Every time we get to the hospital there always seem to be small changes in his condition-- high heart rates, low blood pressures, high jaundice levels, low fluid levels. We are learning to take these things in stride and trust that his doctors and nurses are taking care of all these changes as they come to keep him safe and healthy. There have been lots of consults and talking with different doctors about upcoming tests and procedures for him. He had another ECG done on his heart and an ultrasound on his head this morning. He is scheduled to go for a cardiac CT scan, but they are holding off on that for a bit. Right now, their focus is on getting him as healthy, strong, and rested as possible before his next procedure.

(Getting his 15-lead ECG done this morning)
The plan right now is for Walker to get his feeding tube inserted on Tuesday at 8:00am. He will need to go under anesthesia, and this requires special cardiac anesthesiologists because of his heart condition. The hope is that if all goes well, they will be able to very slowly start feeding him through the tube within a few days of the procedure.
Tomorrow feels like it will be a big day. The hope is to take out Walker’s chest tube from his surgery and take out his intubation tube to allow him to breathe unassisted. If both of these things happen and he does well, we will hopefully be able to hold him for the first time. My mama heart can’t wait. I have been longing to hold this sweet boy for 9 days.
Thank you, again, for all of your continued prayers and support. Please pray that all the little changes in Walker’s condition start to level out and that he remains stable. Pray that he stays healthy and strong over the next few days so that he is able to get his feeding tube procedure done on Tuesday. Pray that his feeding tube insertion is completely successful, with no complications. Pray that he recovers quickly from his procedure and is able to start feeding soon. Pray that Walker is able to get his chest and intubation tubes removed tomorrow and that he does really well so that we can hold him in our arms.

(I realized how small he really is when I put a pair of newborn socks on him)

Continuing to pray for you all. I pray that you will feel the love of God and all of those praying surrounding you at all times. Strength for today!
